A – Z Fundraising Ideas

 

There are loads of ways you can go above and beyond by raising funds for the work of MAF.

 

A


All day event Arrange a 24-hour sponsored event such as a 24 hour sports match or computer game marathon

 

Auction of Promises Get people to donate a gift, the promise of their time or use of their belongings. You can even ask people to donate themselves as 'slaves for the day'!

Book Sale Get everyone in your church to donate their old books and sell them after the service

 

Biscuits Make some biscuits to sell at church after the service one day or at school.  You could even make aeroplane shaped biscuits!

 

Bath of beans The bath of beans is a classic. You can also use other disgusting substances such as tuna, soup or dirty washing up water! Get people to sponsor you in timed increments depending and see how long you can stay in!

 

Ball Organise an evening with posh dinner and entertainment for members of your church.  Charge them for the tickets and donate the proceeds (make sure you budget well!)

Car Boot Sale Get all those unwanted items stashed in the back of people’s cupboards or in their lofts and sell them at a car boot sale

 

Card Making Make some cards (e.g. for birthdays, Christmas etc) and sell these to friends and family

 

Coffee Morning Organise a coffee morning, sell cups of coffee and biscuits/cakes

 

Cake Making Bake some delicious cakes and sell them to church and family members

 

Carol singing Bring some festive joy while raising funds either in your town centre or door to door

 

Car Wash Offer to wash all the cars in your street and ask for a donation for MAF

Dry Cornflakes Set up a line of people and bet who will finish their bowl first

 

Dance Party Organise a dance party with a latin, rock n roll or modern theme. Charge for tickets and donate the proceeds

Expeditions Large or small, to Snowdonia or just down the road, group expeditions can be sponsored, ticketed or team building events

 

Egg rolling competition 50p entry, whoever can roll an egg the furthest wins a chocolate egg. The rest of money can be donated

 

Ebay Sell any unwanted stuff on ebay and donate the proceeds to MAF

Fancy Dress Get sponsored to wear fancy dress for a day or organise a fancy dress party

 

Football tournament Charge each team to enter

 

Fun Run Organise your own or find a locally organised event – get sponsored or donate the entry fees

 

Film show Charge for entry, provide popcorn, drinks etc.

 

Famous People Do you know any? Ask them to get involved in things like giving out prizes

 

Facebook Promote your fundraising activity using facebook

 

Fetes and open days Schools, village halls, greens, or any big spaces make ideal locations for an event of this kind. You can charge a fee for those wishing to hold stalls or donate the profits from the stalls and charge a small entrance fee to visitors

Guessing Competition: guess the number of lollies in the jar or the weight of your youth worker or church minister (with their permission!)

Hairy Challenge Get sponsored to shave off your hair or dye it a zany colour

Ice Cream Sunday When the hot weather comes sell ice cream cones after church

 

Inter-church Sports Match football, tennis, netball, beach volleyball or anything!

 

International Evening Put on an international evening with food, music, songs, entertainment from a particular country / region.  Charge people to attend

Jumble Sale People love a good rummage and it's always a good fundraiser

 

Jazz Party Host a jazz party and charge for tickets

 

Justgiving Set up a Justgiving page. Email everyone you know to let them know what you're doing and ask them to support you by donating via your fundraising page

Karaoke Organise a karaoke evening and charge people to get in or take part…or pay for an exemption ticket!

Lunch Money Challenge all your friends to go without lunch for a day and donate the money you all will save to MAF

Match the pet to the owner competition Ask your friends to bring in one photo of themselves and one of their pet. Charge people £1 a time to match up all the photographs

 

MAF Moneybox Get in touch with MAF and ask them to send you an MAF moneybox that you can fill up and send back

 

Murder Mystery Evening

 

Media Let the local newspapers, TV channels and radio stations what you are up to

 

MAFti Day Ask your teachers if your non-school uniform day can be called a MAFti (as opposed to mufti) day and all proceeds go to MAF

Non School Uniform Day Ask your teachers if the proceeds can go to the work of MAF

 

No Speaking Do a sponsored silence

 

No Eating Do a sponsored fast

Olympic Challenge Think up some fun competitions such as chair-racing, who can punch most holes in a sheet of A3 in a minute, or who can cover themselves in the most post-it notes

 

Organic Veg Grow your own vegetables and sell them

Publicity Send a press release to all your local papers asking for sponsorship from companies and individuals

 

Paper Aeroplane Racing Collect a donation for each paper aeroplane and see which one can fly the furthest or create a target and award prizes to those who hit the target

 

Photo Guessing Competition Hold a guess the baby in the photo competition

Quiz Nights always a favourite. Charge people to take part

Raffle A traditional fundraising favourite

 

Races organise a day of races… sprints, three-legged, sack races, wheelbarrow races, or 10Km walk… get sponsored or pay to participate

Sponsor your Minister /  Youth Worker Always a favourite; sponsor your Minister or youth worker to do something different like not talk, dye their hair, or run up and down the high street shouting ‘I love rodents’

 

Sponsored Events Bike ride, walk, silence, swim, slim, head shave, abseil, three peaks challenge etc

 

Smarties Tube Give your friends, family and church members a tube of smarties and (once they’ve eaten them), ask them over a period of weeks to fill the empty tube with £1 coins and give it back to you

 

Spare Change Collect spare change from everyone you know and see how quickly you can fill a jar

 

 

T

 

Talent Show Discover the hidden talents of your church members – be it singing, dancing, acting or comedy – and sell tickets to attend the event

 

Treasure Hunt Organise a treasure hunt by car, bike or on foot.  Teams pay to enter

 

Theme days/nights Hold a themed event. Charge for entry

 

Tombola Get some raffle tickets and persuade your friends and colleagues to donate prizes

 

Toy duck races You'll need a few hundred numbered plastic ducks. Then get people to sponsor a duck at £1 a go and give them a note of their duck's number. On the race day set all the ducks loose on the river and watch they race to the finish line. Be sure to catch them again though!

University Challenge Collect together teams who attend the same or nearby universities and hold a challenge to see which university comes top

Variety Show Round up your talented friends, dust off your dancing shoes and put on a show for family and friends. Charge for admission

Wear Red Encourage your friends or church members to wear all red and make a donation.  This works particularly well around World AIDS Day

Zero Tolerance: give up chocolate or some other treat for a month… donate the money saved
